WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
You must have no convicted felonies, be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
Recruit (rookie) school is approximately six months.
Yes. Every step in our hiring process is mandatory regardless of your previous employment or certifications.
Absolutely not! We don’t care where you live, as long as you show up for work on time.

Standard hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however, these times are subject to change based on the class or training that recruits are receiving at the time.
When you’ve successfully completed recruit (rookie) school, the hours change to 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
When determining the starting pay for lateral transfers, Huntsville Fire & Rescue looks at years of experience as well as what certifications will transfer over to our department.
